Love this read and in general, your Substack content so far Natalie! I’ve tried 4 of the moisturizers here, and agree they’re all great. It actually makes me miss IS clinical’s reparative emulsion a lot. The glow is unmatched. Curious if you have a go-to travel moisturizer. I’m always looking to streamline. I sampled the U Beauty Super Hydrator on a recent vacation and it was lovely. Might have to pick up a full size. :-)

Hi! Thank you endlessly for your kind words and for being part of my community here on Substack! 🥹 For travel, it completely depends. I hate to check a bag so I usually try to squeeze everything into a quart sized bag (and then scatter the rest of my products across my carry on items and hope for the best with TSA, lol). I almost always bring Instant Angel (the smaller sized tube) and layer it as needed. I've also found that Rhode's Barrier Restore Cream has a weirdly perfect sized/shaped tube for travel, so I bring that if I can. I also bring travel sizes/samples of U Beauty's Super Hydrator because it's a nonnegotiable in my nighttime routine! If you want to pick up the full size, you can use my code "myskinterest" on U Beauty's website (20% off). Which is all to say, grab the U Beauty! 🤍

This is so interesting!! I was just switching up my moisturizers and serums to deal with my dehydrated skin that I just cannot seem to hydrate. I’ve settled on more water-rich creams, sealed with a balm for now: Ingredients Face Serum, Osmia Face Cream, Stark Balm. I may need to try Air Angel if this doesn’t work - using it as a serum sounds like a good idea!! I love Instant Angel, but I wondered if I needed something with more water/hydrators (versus lipids).

I actually haven't tried any of the products you mentioned but as someone with incredibly dry skin that's prone to dehydration, I really loooove lipids! If what you're currently doing doesn't work for you, I would definitely try Air Angel layered under Instant Angel! Instant Angel can only help your skin in my opinion (but I'm not an expert). I tend to use a loooot of serums to help build up layers of hydration under my layers of moisture (lol). But overall, would definitely recommend adding thin, hydrating layers whenever possible! 🤍

Would you use Deliverance or Air Angel as a “serum” step? (I was just reading your morning routine post.)

Hi! No, Air Angel would replace Sound Renewal in my routine - but your routine may well be very different! When I say that Air Angel has a silky, serum-like consistency, I mean in comparison to other moisturizers I use - not that I would use it as a serum (because it's made to be a moisturizer).

Got it - thank you! That makes sense.

I think I am going to try Air Angel - it’s so odd to me how my skin gets so dehydrated every Spring. And I haven’t yet figured out how to solve it! I will also try layering versus mixing. I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts!

I would recommend incorporating a hydrating serum along with Air Angel and a thicker moisturizer if you need it. I'm not an expert, but I know my skin is always going to be more dry and more dehydrated than others -- it's my baseline. And that's why my routine doesn't really change throughout the year.
