Love Notes: Five Things I'm Loving Right Now
A quick roundup of the clothing, skincare, beauty, hair care and wellness products I can't put down.
Welcome to the first installment of Love Notes, a short and sweet roundup of the delectable treats I’m loving most right now. From the skincare products I can’t go a day without to that one pair of jeans that always fits just right (you know the ones), the hair care heroes I continue to repurchase time and time again, the new release I’m reluctantly enjoying, the best cashmere sweater, the makeup products that actually work and everything in-between. Love Notes is a collection of brief yet passionate entries about a few things that are filling my cup to the brim and other miscellaneous delights. You can find every installment of Love Notes here. Let’s dive in.

Love Notes: Page One
Despite living through relentlessly awful New York City winters for nearly a decade, I still panic when the temperature drops below forty-five where I live now. The only way I make it to spring every year is with the help of my favorite winter accessories (as well as antidepressants and buckets of moisturizer, among other things). But few cold weather staples best a perfect cashmere beanie, and this is the only one worn this winter. Then again, you can’t go wrong with a more budget friendly option like this.
Only Furtuna Skin could make a face oil I actually love (save w/ myskinterest20). While I’m the ideal customer for a face oil, I’ve always found that nearly every one is underwhelming at best and icky at least. However, the Biphase Moisturizing Oil checks every box — it’s lightweight but packs a punch, it has a lovely scent that’s not overpowering and helps provide my skin with lasting hydration. If the price with my discount still makes you want to throw your phone at the nearest wall and rightly so, I also like this (save w/ myskinterest20), this and this (save w/ myskinterest).
If you have dry skin, eczema or ingrown hairs, razor burn and other irritation associated with shaving (or all of it like me!), the Universal Skin Solution will improve your life. I love it. I spray it all over my body after I shower and whenever I’m feeling itchy (read: a bottle is next to me at all times). I’m not exaggerating when I say that it, when used in combination with this, is the only reason why my calves are not fully covered in scrapes and scabs. Even if you only struggle with mild irritation from shaving, I truly cannot recommend it enough.
As I enter the sophomore year of my Hair Care Era, I’m learning that scalp care is actually pretty important. Recently, the cool, dry winter air has fully turned my skin into a crusty raisin and as you may remember from a few lines ago, I’m always itchy (even my scalp). I love that The Calming Scalp Serum has a very targeted spray and can be used on damp or dry hair. Even though my hair is very fine and easily weighed down, this doesn’t make my hair look or feel greasy — it just works. And few things “just work” for my hair lately.
While I rarely go a few days without using my beloved LED mask (save w/ myskinterest), I’ve been hesitant to try other skincare devices. Most popular skincare devices come with a considerable upfront cost, laundry list of (somewhat murky) claims and every few months the entire internet decides to revisit debates over if at-home devices are “worth it.” Well, curiosity got the best of me a while ago and I finally added a nanocurrent device to my routine (save w/ myskinterestziip). To be clear, and I can’t emphasis this enough, I’m not an expert. While I did my own research and narrowed it down to a few devices, this one was ultimately the most appealing to me. For one, there’s no attachments or different settings to worry about, it’s designed to be easy and fast. All you do is apply the gel that comes with the device, press the power button and — if you want — follow any of the guided routines on their app. And while the app may seem superfluous, it’s extremely helpful when you first get the device and have no idea what to do and convince yourself you’re either going to break it or make your face fall off or both. I’m trying to get in the habit of using it consistently so I can form a stronger opinion beyond “it’s easy and fun” but for now, I just really like using it. You can find all of the skincare devices I like (and discount codes!) here.
Of course, I could spend days writing various love notes to all the people, places, things and cats in my life that fill me with a sense of joyful solidarity and/or boundless happiness.
I was feeling a little sick at the start of the week so I was pretty quiet here and on Instagram (however, I did manage to actually post on Instagram which felt like a huge win). And while feeling under the weather isn’t ideal, it was a great excuse to spend more time cuddling with my cat (the dream), catching up on some much needed sleep and start to tackle the mountain of products on my vanity I’ve managed to accumulate since the year began.
Right, that’s it from me today!
